USWA Week Day 1

When I was going up Vince McMahon was still trying to crush the other wrestling promotions. He had been very successful, buying Georgia Championship Wrestling (GCW), both the Minneapolis based American Wrestling Association (AWA) & Dallas based World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) were dying, & the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA ) was working with Jim Crockett Promotions of Charlotte to form World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in order to complete with the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It was at this time that the United States Wrestling Association was formed in order to complete with both the WWF & WCW.

Before the Crockett became WCW, there was a plan to complete with the WWF.  It was Pro Wrestling USA which had the NWA, AWA, Crocket Promotions, GCW & the Memphis based Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) working together. It fell apart after a few months, when the promoters of the different companies started to fight over money, talent, power & who controlled the titles. Then Mr McMahon bought GCW, & the NWA gave Crockett control over their major titles & Crockett soon became WCW. After that the WCCW & the CWA agreed to merge. Jerry Lawler, who worked for the CWA & was AWA world champion won the WCCW world title. At this time AWA, CWA & WCCW were trying to work together. It fell apart & Lawler gave up the AWA title & created a true world championship, the USWA unified heavyweight world title. AWA named a new champion, while the WCCW kept Lawler because they were part of USWA. Of course soon the WCCW left the USWA leaving the CWA now as the USWA.

I still miss the USWA

The USWA Unified World Heavyweight Championship belt.

This is how it was almost created.
Jerry "the King" Lawyer would later unified the belts in Chicago & it was then the USWA was born.

Dead Blog posts, Big 12 is in trouble. Suggestion time.

The Big 12 is dying, again. This time Texas and Oklahoma are leaving to go to the SEC.
