2020 D1 College Basketball champion

You just know that sport writers are happy that San Diego State lost.
Coaches and Associated Press topped ranked team at the end of the season. No tournament this year, which means that Kansas is the De Facto National Champions.

The NCAA FBS pecking order

It is that time of year. A time when people choose with teams who will have a chance to become FBS National Champion. The current playoff system started in 2014. It replaced the BCS. Teams are decided by people based on many factors, records, schedule and conferences. Today I am writing about the conferences. This post will reveal the current FBS conference pecking order.

This is a important factor in determining if your team even has a chance. The fact is that their are certain teams who will never have a chance. Those teams could go undefeated and they would not get in. Now the order

Super Conferences lineup predictions.

Cooler than the Tardis, Deloren and Bill & Ted's phone booth put together.

Ever since conference realignment begin a few years ago there has been talk of super conferences. A super conference is a conference with several members like the old WAC did before the Mountain West split off. Except they would be the major conferences & would control major college football. All the other football conference would be left out. Well using the MSF prediction machine shown at the top, I have come up with the future look of the Football Bowl Subdivision conferences. Time to go to the future and back.

How to pick the CFB D1A Champion?

It is that time of the year. The time when the D1 college football champion is chosen in a beauty pageant, uh I mean by using polls. Of course, as you all know we have the BCS "the greatest system of picking champions ever", pick who play in the title game because a tournament would be a bad idea. Why would it be a bad idea, because it would hurt tradition, unlike 40 bowls, having to use 6-7 teams or conference realignment. If you haven't guessed it, I don't like the BCS. A few years ago, this blog started its own National Championship, The MemphisSportsFan National Championship. Here is a list of past champions.

2011-12

Here is how this year's championship will be decided.

How I will decide my D1A football national championship

This blog choses to name it's own college football national championship. We decided why not. It not like it would be any less valid than the AP, Harris, or BCS titles. Last year, TCU was named as our first champions. TCU won't repeat. The BCS has once again fail so this is how we will decide.

If LSU beat Alabama,  LSU wins it.

If LSU lose & Oklahoma State wins, OSU wins it

If both LSU & OSU loses, winner of Rose Bowl wins it.

Yep thats it, I also considered Boise but no BCS means no chance at title.

After the Big 12, (Metro Conference)

This idea started as a joke. I figured with all the conference changing I could do at least one funny post. Which is why there are so many teams. Then I saw reports that the ACC has pretty much torn apart the Big East. I have also heard the Texas & Texas Tech after talking about going to the ACC might just go to the Pac 12. Missouri also wants to go to the SEC with Texas AM so it looks like the BIG 12 is also done. So now this funny post is the most likely one to come true. Go figure!  Remember, you only need 6 school to form a league, 8 is normal, 12 to have a title game & 16 is a super conference. So not every school needs to join. But if they did it would be amazing!

The Metro Conference was a non football conference which combined with the Great Midwest to form Conference USA. This is the fourth & last idea so here we go.

West Metro Side

 Far West Division
  1. Boise St
  2. BYU
  3. New Mexico
  4. New Mexico St.
  5. Tulsa
 Texas Division
  1. SMU
  2. Rice
  3. TCU
  4. Baylor
  5. Houston
East Metro Side

 Midwest Division

  1. Memphis
  2. Kansas
  3. Tulane
  4. Kansas St.
  5. Iowa St.
 East Division
  1. Louisville
  2. Cincinnati
  3. Central Florida
  4. Temple
  5. UAB

Yes, a 20 team Metro Super Conference. It would be the biggest conference & hopefully BCS proof.

After the Big 12, (Great Midwest Conference)

The Great Midwest Conference was a non football which had many former Metro schools. The name could be used for a new all sports conference.

North Division
  1. Boise St.
  2. BYU
  3. Iowa St.
  4. Missouri
  5. Kansas
  6. Kansas St.
South Division
  1. Texas
  2. Texas Tech
  3. Memphis
  4. Baylor
  5. TCU
  6. SMU
I thought about trying East & West division, but again I didn't want to upset Baylor. One more post after this.

After the Big 12, (Southwestern Conference)

The Big 12 was formed when the old BIG 8 added for Southwestern Conference (SWC) schools. If the BIG 12 ends bring back the SWC

Texas Division
  1. Texas
  2. Texas Tech
  3. Baylor
  4. SMU or Rice
  5. TCU
  6. Houston
Non Texas Division
  1. Tulane
  2. Tulsa
  3. Memphis
  4. New Mexico
  5. New Mexico State
  6. Arkansas St
I know that the whole Texas & non Texas divisions are dumb but it would make Baylor happy & we know how powerful they are. Also Rice & SMU could both join but then there would be 7 Texas schools. ASU is there just because.

After the Big 12, (Big 8)

There is news of even more conference movement, & it looks like the BIG 12 is done. After the BIG 12 ends there will be a lot of schools in need of a conference. So I in this post & in the next few will suggest replacement conferences for the disbanded BIG 12. First up the NEW BIG 8.

  1. Texas
  2. Texas Tech
  3. Missouri
  4. Baylor
  5. Kansas
  6. Kansas St.
  7. Memphis
  8. Iowa st.
Pretty cut & dry, if necessary you could take out a few schools & put in BYU, TCU or Boise.

Big 12..10... I mean 9 (In My Opinion)

It appears that unless there is a unforeseen problem, Texas A&M is going to leave the BIG 12 conference for the Southeastern Conference this week. This move will mean that the BIG 12 which has only 10 schools now will have only 9 schools. Jokes aside the BIG 12 is in trouble. Last year the BIG 12 almost ended when the BIG 10 which has 11 teams took Nebraska. And the PAC 10 took Colorado. It almost took Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, & Oklahoma State. This would have reduced the BIG 12's then membership of 12 to 5. A NCAA conference must have at least 6 members. Things were bad, Missouri tried to get into the BIG 10. Even after the PAC 10 only got Colorado, Texas A&M and Oklahoma were talking to the SEC. All looked lost, then a deal was made. Texas was given a larger share of BIG 12 profits, which included money from a new TV with Fox. They were allowed to form there own TV network, The Longhorn Network. The BIG 12 also agreed to not try to expand to 12 teams again. Under NCAA rules a conference must have 12 schools playing football to have a football championship game. This game made alot of money & not having one cost the BIG 12 money & cost the other schools money. Texas agreed to stay. Though there has been speculation about Texas going independent like BYU did.

Which leads us to now. A lot of the other schools were unhappy about the deal. Texas A&M is upset about the deal & is leaving. Texas A&M is trying to get into the SEC, and it looks like the SEC wants them. This deal would weakening the BIG 12 and might cost them some TV money, which is where most of the money used to appease Texas came from. It seems that the BIG 12 needs to find a new 10th member. Assuming that Texas lets them expand. And it is Texas' power & money that has driven Texas A&M to try and leave. So what should the BIG 12 do ?

The BIG 12 needs to expel Texas or at least give them an ultimatum. Texas is the problem. Texas first held the BIG 12 hostage by threatening to leave & take half the conference with it. It then repaid both the schools who would have went and the schools that would have stayed by demanding more money and costing them money. They took a larger share of money. The Longhorn Network gives Texas even more money. Texas blocked the formation of a BIG 12 network costing the other schools money. Texas opposing new members, Texas doesn't want to share with new members. And a title game has also cost, Texas doesn't want a title game, has cost the other schools money. Finally the other schools are now jealous of Texas' money & power. If the BIG 12 doesn't expel Texas, it should at least force Texas to make concessions & allow new members. I know that Texas has a lot of money and power, but it is better to kick them out than it is for them to leave and go independent when they are ready. If the BIG 12 doesn't anything it will die. There is of more conference realignment and there is no reason for the other members to be loyal to the BIG 12. Except for the huge buyout. But schools will get around that.

Besides expelling or force concessions from Texas, the BIG 12 needs to do a few other things. Here is a list.
  1. The BIG 12 needs to end it's relationship with ESPN. ESPN is the backer of the Longhorn Network & has a deal with the SEC. ESPN seem have a interest in A&M going to the SEC. It woulds make the SEC more valuable & weaken the BIG 12 value. The BIG 12 main TV deal is with Fox.
  2. Assuming Texas is gone decide if it is gone to try to expand. Once upon a time there was a BIG 8 conference before it merged with the old Southwestern conference and became the BIG 12.
  3. If they decide to expand go the at least 12 schools. Remember Title games mean more money.
  4. Form a TV network, but be smart. The Longhorn Network has almost no viewers and only a few TV systems are even showing it. Of course Texas has already received a lot of money but the BIG 12 doesn't want to end up as the Mountain West who has a network few people watch.
If the BIG 12 does these things I think that it will survive this round of conference turmoil. Here are links to  stories about Texas A&M to the SEC, and the Longhorn Network

Dead Blog posts, Big 12 is in trouble. Suggestion time.

The Big 12 is dying, again. This time Texas and Oklahoma are leaving to go to the SEC.
